MELISSA COX Biography

Melissa Cox (soprano) infuses the sounds of folk, Celtic & rock with her own distinctive lyrical, vocal & guitar styles. Her cryptic and poetic lyrics focus on relationships, personal experiences, dreams, politics, women's rights, love, sexuality & spirituality. She opened for Catie Curtis (Vangaurd), bluesman Scott Perry (Oh Papa) & local favorite Omnisoul (Wind Up). Her song "elijah, elijah" was a folk finalist in the Song of the Year contest & has been played regularly on 93.7FM WSTW's Hometown Heroes show and on 91.3 WVUD. She was a DE Top 10 MP3.com artist and has showcased at several conferences & festivals, including the Dewey Beach Conference, DE Music Festival, Rehoboth Folk Festival, Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA, Newark Community Day & Downtown with the Arts. She has performed in DE, PA, MD & NJ. She performs often w/ Nikki Gallagher (vocals), Matt Smith (bass) & Curt Gibson (drums).
